About
Margarita McLaughlin
I started my career with a BA in Clinical Psychology working for a national law corporation while still in college. I continued my career working with a top Fortune 500 companies, Traveler’s Insurance, AVCO Financial/Textron and Lennar. In my personal life I have experienced marriage, divorce, raising children into successful and happy adults, overcoming cancer twice, losing loved ones to long term illness and death by suicide. I have been able to recreate my life each step of the way. I bring each one of these life experiences into a session to understand your challenges and obstacles.
My style of therapy is about understanding your needs and goals. I work to create a safe emphatic relationship where we can explore your challenges and obstacles.
I want to know how you want to live your life and work with your strengthens and experiences to develop a road map to get there. I have helped people of all ages and life stages to be their best selves and I can help you too.
Through out my years working with individuals, couples and family's I have learned that communication and listening are not skills that we are born with. Our individual backgrounds teach us how to see the world and that unique vision does not always match what other people understand and see in their world. I can help you communicate your thoughts and needs so that others will understand you.
My passion and personal experience are working with life challenges dealing with
cancer, divorce, grief and life transitions. In my personal experience I have learned that life can change in an instant with the loss of your health, relationships, the life you envisioned or the career you thought would last a lifetime. I approach each of these obstacles with an unique understanding and knowledge that only someone who has experienced these events can know. I use my personal lessons to hold a space for you to overcome, heal and grow from these challenges. I specialize in helping people overcome challenges with anxiety and depression, stress and trauma.
I work with adolescents - through late adulthood, as individuals, couples and families.
My professional training was completed at Pepperdine University
where I earned a graduate degree with honors.
